Dr. Robert D. Bullard Named to List of World’s 100 Most Influential People in Climate Policy 2019

HOUSTON – 20 March 2012 – Texas Southern University scholar Dr. Robert D. Bullard, Distinguished Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy, has been named as one of the World’s 100 Most Influential People in Climate Policy for 2019. The Apolitical list lauds politicians, civil servants, academics, and activists who have raised awareness of and demanded change to climate policy. Professor Bullard is often called the “Father of Environmental Justice” for his four-decades of research, scholarly writings, policy and activist work. He is co-founder of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Climate Change Consortium and author of eighteen books that address environmental justice, climate justice, environmental racism, public health, urban land use, housing, transportation, energy, sustainability, smart growth, disasters, and community resilience. Professor Bullard was selected alongside former Vice President Al Gore, Sir David Attenborough, Pope Francis, Vandana Shiva, Michael Mann, James Hansen, Bill McKibben, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Greta Thunberg and Hoesung Lee, and a host of rising stars who are making their mark in local communities and are a driving force behind governmental progress. The 100 Most Influential People in Climate Policy list was curated from nominations from hundreds of public servants as well as experts at UNDP, Harvard, Oxford, Bloomberg Philanthropies, The Climate Action Network and more. “The need to reduce greenhouse gas emission is urgent. 174 countries and the EU agreed to act at the Paris Agreements.
